On August 16, 2021, the Law Office of Matthew W. Peterson got a NOT GUILTY verdict after a jury trial.  This jury trial was conducted in Lowell District Court.  The charges were violation of a restraining order.

The client was on a green card, so a guilty verdict could have resulted in the loss of his lawful permanent residence.

The client had a restraining order issued against him by another student.  When he saw the person who had the restraining order in a friend’s apartment, he panicked.  The other party left, but he stayed and waited for police.

The jury decided to acquit the client, saving him a criminal conviction and the ability to keep his green card.
