On June 15, 2023, the Law Office of Matthew W. Peterson secured a dismissal of firearms charges at a clerk’s hearing in South Boston Court. This means that the gun charges will not appear on our client’s records, and he faces no penalties for them.

Our client was a legal gun owner from an open-carry state and came to Massachusetts to board a cruise ship. He accidentally left his legal firearm in his luggage, and the State Police caught it.

He was facing a mandatory minimum of 18 months in jail for having a firearm in Massachusetts without a license. However, we argued to the clerk magistrate that this was unfair, and the magistrate dismissed the charges.

We were happy for our client that he could move on with his life without these unfair charges hanging over his head.
