On August 7, 2023, we secured a misdemeanor probation plea for a client charged with carrying a firearm without a license. Our client was facing 18 months in jail as a mandatory minimum for carrying a firearm without a license in Massachusetts.
Our client was from out of state and legally possessed the firearm in his home state. He traveled to Massachusetts for work, but when police were called to help him, they discovered the gun in his car.
After negotiating with the district attorney, we were able to secure a favorable resolution for our client. He no longer faced felony charges and no longer faced mandatory jail time. Instead, he was able to plead guilty to a misdemeanor and face only probation. He was able to do this probation in his home state without any issue.
